GULF & Dent Chula Bring Smiles to Special Individuals for 5th Year on Valentine’s Day

Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited (GULF), in its 5th consecutive year of collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University (Dent Chula), continues its ‘GULF Sparks Smiles’ dental unit project. This year features four scheduled units, with the first taking place on Valentine’s Day, at the Pak Kret Dental Center in Nonthaburi Province. Free dental services provided to special groups of children from Nonthaphum Home, Fueng Fah Home, Rachawadee Home for Persons with Disabilities (Boys), and Rachawadee Home for Persons with Disabilities (Girls). The event also includes oral health education and skill-building activities for the youth.
Prof. Pornchai Jansitsayanon, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, said, “For the fifth consecutive year, the Faculty of Dentistry at Chulalongkorn University is proud to collaborate with GULF on the GULF Sparks Smiles project, driven by our shared commitment to equitable and comprehensive oral healthcare. This year’s inaugural unit, thoughtfully organized on Valentine’s Day, specifically addresses the needs of children and youth in shelters in Pak Kret District, a community often lacking access to essential dental services and requiring specialized care. We extend our sincere gratitude to the dedicated GULF volunteers, volunteer dentists, and members of the public whose collective efforts made today’s event a reality. It is our hope that this initiative brings tangible benefits and genuine smiles to all who participate.”
“This event unites volunteers from diverse backgrounds, each contributing their unique skills to share love in various ways. Dentists are offering their expertise through dental health education and services, while other volunteers are engaging the children with activities like crafting elephant pillows to improve hand dexterity, teaching clay molding, and organizing educational games, all in the spirit of this special day,” added Mr. Warit Wattanawongwan, Volunteer Dentist.
Ms. Paopa-nga Tanboripan, a volunteer, said, “Having volunteered with the Pakkret Dental Project for 15 years, each opportunity brings me immense joy. The children who come here often seek love and warmth, and I believe today will leave everyone – not just the children, but all the volunteers – with happiness and smiles to take home.”
Ms. Warisara Somboon, a volunteer, stated, “When I heard about the GULF Sparks Smiles volunteer opportunity, I immediately invited my younger sister to come along. Our contribution today was making elephant hand-holding pillows for the children to use during their dental treatments. These are meant to provide comfort and alleviate anxiety during their dental procedures. We extend our sincere thanks to GULF and the Faculty of Dentistry at Chulalongkorn University for making this heartwarming initiative possible.”
‘GULF Sparks Smiles’ dental unit project delivers a range of essential oral healthcare services, from basic treatments like fillings, tooth extraction, scaling, fluoride coating, and X-rays to more complex procedures such as wisdom tooth removal. This comprehensive approach seeks to promote better oral health outcomes for the public and address disparities in access to dental care, especially for vulnerable populations. This endeavor reflects GULF’s commitment to social sustainability, focusing on ensuring equitable access to medical services and enhancing the overall well-being of the community.
