“Green Mission by Chula x GULF” Empowers Student Innovators Against Climate Change– Applications Open Until July 31!

Gulf Development Public Company Limited (GULF) and The Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with Chulalongkorn University Radio Station under the management of the Office of Academic Resources, Chulalongkorn University, has launched the second year of the “Green Mission by Chula x GULF” project. This year’s initiative, themed “Climate Change Adaptation,” aims to inspire and empower high school students nationwide. It encourages them to brainstorm innovative ideas for tackling climate change and provides a platform for them to showcase their potential as creative thinkers and innovators. Applications open until July 31, 2025.
At the press conference held in the Faculty of Engineering Auditorium, Chulalongkorn University, speakers and special guests inspired attendees and shared valuable knowledge. Ms. Nareerat Panmanee, Director of the Climate Change and Environment Research Center, Department of Climate Change and Environment shared valuable insights into Thailand’s climate change adaptation plan, providing students with a foundational understanding to develop their future innovations. The event also featured a special appearance by the renowned Thai-Chayanon Phakthin, a member of the boy group BUS. He shared green stories to energize and inspire the participating students.
Adding to the excitement, a fast-track competition was held during the press conference. Mr. Jetsadakorn Nakdilok from Streesmutprakan School and Mr. Purin Intupoot from Mahavajiravudh Songkhla School. They both won the right to form a team and proceed to the next round. This includes an all-expenses-paid four-day, three-night bootcamp at the Center of Learning Network for the Region (CLNR) in Saraburi Province. In the final round, students will be challenged to present practical and innovative ideas related to a given topic, aimed at addressing the global issue of climate change. The competition offers a total prize value of over 100,000 baht, including cash prizes, certificates of honor, and a special ‘Popular Vote by GULF’ award, determined by social media engagement.
Ms. Theerathiphisa Tawichpasoot, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, GULF, shared about the ongoing partnership, “Gulf Group is thrilled to continue the ‘Green Mission by Chula x GULF’ project for its second year. This initiative provides a vital platform for participants to showcase their full potential, and GULF is ready to support and drive the innovative ideas that emerge, aiming to create positive global change. We firmly believe in the power of young people to develop innovations that will steer society toward a sustainable future. This project perfectly aligns with GULF’s core mission of mitigating climate change and our sustainable business goals, which include reducing greenhouse gas emissions (decarbonization), supporting the energy transition, and increasing renewable energy to meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and align with both Thailand’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and the global action plan.”
Assoc. Prof. Witaya Wannasuphoprasit, PhD., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, emphasized, “The escalating severity of natural disasters, directly linked to climate change, demands cooperation from all sectors. It’s especially crucial to empower our youth through participatory learning, enabling them to create innovations that meet community needs and genuinely contribute to sustainable development goals.”
Assoc. Prof. Amorn Petsom, PhD., Director of the Academic Resources Office, and Director of Chulalongkorn University Radio Station FM 101.5 MHz, stated, “Everyone involved in this project will gain a deeper understanding of climate change and its environmental impact. This awareness will inspire them to innovate solutions that reduce the impact of disasters, applicable right within their own communities. That’s the core purpose of this collaboration between Chulalongkorn University, the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn Radio Station, and GULF, to integrate knowledge and management strategies to combat natural disasters and climate change. No matter our role, we can all prepare for this change.”
Prof. Pisut Painmanakul, Ph.D., Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, stated, “We cannot afford to wait for global warming to escalate; we must lead the change. The Green Mission project takes knowledge and innovation from the classroom, directly into the community, and instills a passion for societal well-being in a new generation.”
Mr. Chayanon Phakthin, a member of the boy group BUS, expressed, “I’m incredibly happy to be part of the opening ceremony for the second year of ‘Green Mission by Chula x GULF’ and its sustainable mission. Thanks to GULF for inviting me and giving me this opportunity to connect with young people who believe in the power of change for our world. Every experiment and every creative idea is the beginning of a significant transformation for the future. I want to send my heartfelt encouragement. It’s truly inspiring to witness the collective power of young minds brainstorming brilliant ideas for our world, because you all are the power of tomorrow.
