GULF and Dent Chula Join Forces for “GULF Sparks Smiles” Project, Reiterating Commitment to Sustainable Oral Health for Thais

Gulf Development Public Company Limited (GULF), in collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University (Dent Chula), successfully concluded the fifth year of the “GULF Sparks Smiles” mobile dental unit project. The final outreach unit of the year was held on October 21, 2025. This significant date coincides with National Dental Public Health Day and commemorates the 125th birthday anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. This initiative underscores GULF's sustainability objectives to reduce social inequality and promote equitable health and well-being within the community.

Prof. Dr. Pornchai Jansisyanont, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, stated, “The final unit of the GULF Sparks Smiles Year 5 project was perfectly timed on National Dental Public Health Day and the Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra’s 125th birthday anniversary. This initiative began as a joint commitment between Dent Chula and GULF to improve access to public health services, particularly since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over five years, we have proudly cared for over 6,500 patients, providing more than 9,600 treatments. GULF’s support has been vital in ensuring continuous access to this care. The core mission is to emphasize preventive dental health education alongside therapeutic treatment, which has significantly heightened public awareness of oral health. We are highly optimistic that this collaboration will continue to elevate the quality of oral healthcare for all Thai people.”

Mr. Phongthana Khemmaphanmanas, a youth volunteer, shared his experience, “I volunteered because of my strong interest in becoming a dentist and the opportunity to work with Dent Chula. Even if GULF organizes other volunteer projects that are not dentistry-related in the future, I will always be eager to participate. I sincerely thank GULF for recognizing and nurturing the potential of Thai youth. I first learned about GULF through their Green Mission project, where students developed innovative solutions with the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. Thank you for supporting such valuable activities and providing opportunities for interested young people—it is truly a driving force for education in Thailand.

Mr. Sittiphon Thiromongkholchai, a parent whose child received dental services, expressed his satisfaction, “I previously tried to take my son to a dental clinic, but it was unsuccessful because he cried, leaving him with an open wound needing special attention. When I heard about GULF Sparks Smiles, I brought him here because I knew they had specialized pediatric dentists. Today, he received an initial dental cleaning and fluoride treatment, with follow-up appointments scheduled. I feel incredibly happy and reassured by the service; all the personnel were friendly and ready to help. Thank you to GULF and the project for organizing such an excellent activity. I believe this will benefit many other families.”

The “GULF Sparks Smiles” project has consistently met its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by fostering genuine and lasting oral health for the Thai population over five years. Throughout 2025, the mobile units successfully delivered free, comprehensive dental services—including fillings, extractions, scaling, and wisdom tooth surgery—to a total of 6,500 individuals, accounting for 9,651 cases. Furthermore, essential public dental health education was provided to raise awareness. This successful final event solidifies the unwavering commitment of GULF and the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University, to collectively enhance the community’s quality of life by sparking bright smiles, which serve as the essential foundation for sustainable health and well-being.
