Renewable Energy

Driving energy transition towardNet Zero 2050

GULF invests in and operates various renewable power projects to support greenhouse gas reduction and long-term energy transition, including solar power, wind power, hydroelectric power, biomass, and waste-to-energy. Our goal is to reduce our scope 1 emissions intensity by 25% by 2030 (compared to our 2019 baseline). As we aim to increase the share of renewables to 40% of total gross installed capacity, GULF targets to achieve Net-zero scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2050.

Solar Power

We invest in various solar energy projects across Thailand, including solar farms, solar farms with battery energy storage systems (BESS), and solar rooftops.

Wind Power

GULF’s onshore wind power in Thailand comprises 13 projects. Of these, 3 projects under the GGC joint venture are in operation, selling electricity to EGAT and PEA under 5-year PPAs which can be renewed. The remaining projects are under development and will sell electricity to EGAT under 25-year PPAs.

Hydroelectric Power

GULF has been developing 3 run-of-river hydroelectric power projects in the Mekong River Basin in Lao PDR for future electricity supply to Thailand. All projects entered into the PPAs with EGAT, expecting a scheduled commercial operation during 2030-2033. As a run-of-river type without reservoir, the projects utilize natural flow rate of water to generate electricity, ensuring no impact on the Mekong River’s natural water flow.
