Overview

Our company develops, constructs, and operates gas-fired power projects to meet the growing electricity needs of the country, which are essential for industrial and economic growth.

These projects are baseload power plants that provide steady and continuous electricity, and which will act as a bridge to a low-carbon future. GULF’s gas-fired power projects, both in Thailand and internationally, are divided into four categories based on the type of Power Purchase Agreement (PPA):

Gas-Fired Power Projects

IPP (Independent Power Producer) Projects

GULF operates and develops six gas-fired IPP projects in Thailand, which have a total installed capacity of 9,419 MW currently in operation, with an additional 1,370 MW now under construction/development. These projects generate and sell electricity to EGAT (Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand) under long-term 25-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPA).

SPP (Small Power Producer) Projects

The GULF Group manages 19 gas-fired SPP projects across Thailand, collectively providing 2,474 MW of installed capacity. These projects are fully operational and sell 70%-80% of their electricity output to EGAT under 25-year PPAs. The electricity sold to EGAT is distributed through EGAT’s country-wide transmission network, from where it is sold to PEA (Provincial Electricity Authority) and MEA (Metropolitan Electricity Authority), who then distribute it to consumers across the country. Additionally, electricity, steam, and chilled water are sold under specific PPAs with certain groups of industrial users.

Captive Power Project

Located in the Duqm Special Economic Zone (Duqm SEZ) in Oman, GULF’s gas-fired captive power project has an installed capacity of approximately 326 MW, along with a water generation capacity of approximately 1,667 cubic meters per hour and wastewater outfall plant with contractual capacity of 660 cubic meters per hour. This project supplies power and water to the DRPIC refinery under a 25-year Power and Water Purchase Agreements (PWPA) and holds exclusive rights to operate utilities within Duqm SEZ. Its construction was fully completed by the end of 2023, and the project is now in operation, providing electricity and chilled water.

Gas-Fired Power Project in Merchant Market

GULF has invested in Jackson Generation, a gas-fired power project located in Will County, Illinois, USA, with a capacity of 1,200 MW. This project supplies electricity to the Pennsylvania–New Jersey–Maryland Interconnection (PJM), which is a crucial regional transmission organization recognized in the USA for high reliability and significant demand.
