GULF presents 10-million-baht donation to Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital Funding for the procurement of ventilators and support for COVID-19 ‘hospitel’ patients
May 7, 2021
Amidst the COVID-19 outbreak and with an increasing number of cases every day, there is a shortage of hospital beds and medical equipment for COVID-19 patients. In the light of this, Gulf Energy Development plc or GULF presented a donation of ten million baht to the Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital to fund the procurement of 25 much needed humidifiers with integrated flow generator, which can deliver high-flow oxygen for patients with abnormal respiratory rates and help reduce or slow the risk of pneumonia. In addition, GULF is also supporting the cost of renting space in a nearby hotel as a so-called ‘hospitel’ to accommodate COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms.

Mr. Sitamon Ratanavadi, on behalf of Mr. Sarath Ratanavadi, Chief Executive Officer, Gulf Energy Development, plc stated, “Given the current situation of the third wave, public health and medical readiness is of the utmost importance. Therefore, Gulf Group aims to support the Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital with essential medical equipment and expenses to cover the hospitel.”

Ms. Porntipa Chinvetkitvanit, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Gulf Energy Development, plc. added, “The company also would like to give encouragement to medical staff countrywide – especially those public health officials who have been working hard to curb the outbreak. When the situation is under control with more vaccinations, we will definitely see a better situation quickly.”

“As the COVID-19 pandemic is getting worse, the medical personnel at Ramathibodi Hospital need to gear up to treat critically-ill patients whose numbers may increase in the future. We also urgently need to prepare space outside the medical facility to take care of patients. As such, GULF’s contribution during this time is very helpful. With more ventilators, the medical team will be able to treat patients faster. The expense coverage for the ‘hospitel’ is also a great addition to patient support and will promote our readiness to accommodate them,” Professor Piyamitr Sritara MD, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital concluded.

Gulf Group is ready to be another important force in helping healthcare professionals and public health workers. Over the past years, Gulf Group has continuously implemented a number of public health programs with a mission aimed at improving the community’s quality of life in a sustainable manner.
