Following the positive responses to the campaign from the districts of Bang Khun Thian and Nong Chok,
Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited (GULF) and the
Faculty of Dentistry Chulalongkorn University (Dent Chula) concludes the year with the final
“GULF Sparks Smiles” unit at Thippawas temple in the Lat Krabang District. The campaign continues to provide free dental services, dental health advice from professional dentists and volunteer staff, as well as basic dental health education so that locals will have a better understanding of
dental health care to care for themselves and be able to pass the information on to others in order to promote sustainable oral health care.
"This is the first time I joined the Gulf Sparks Smiles mobile dental unit as a volunteer dentist," said
Dr. Natthavoot Koottathape, Associate Dean - Physical Resources, Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University. “First and foremost, underprivileged people will receive free dental care. It also promotes public awareness of the importance and process of primary, secondary, and tertiary dental care because oral health issues are not always a priority due to economic hardships. Having a good project that allows people
to get free dental treatment will be another way to reduce the prevalence of oral health-related disorders.”
Ms. Nattamon Boonprakob, A volunteer student, expressed, “Today, I have the opportunity to volunteer to assist dentists as a volunteer,
which kind of fulfills my ambition to become a dentist." I never thought I would get the opportunity to learn from professionals and
gain first-hand experience, but the campaign made it possible. Therefore, I want to express my appreciation to the campaign for providing me
with this exceptional chance. If I achieve my goal of becoming a dentist in the future, I will return as a volunteer dentist for a mobile dental unit to help people like this again.”
The success of “GULF Sparks Smiles” is not only about reducing inequality or increasing access to free, high-quality dental care for
those in remote areas, but also about providing young people interested in studying dentistry with the opportunity to volunteer as a dentist’s
assistant and gain inspiration and experience. This commitment represents GULF’s “Powering the Future, Empowering the People” goal,
which aspires to conduct business while enhancing people’s quality of life in a sustainable manner.
