Gulf Energy Development Public Company Limited, or GULF, places great importance on resource management and the promotion of positive environmental impacts in the areas where the company operates. Recently, GULF was awarded five Water Footprint of Products certificates from the Water and Environment Institute for Sustainability, the Federation of Thai Industries at the ‘Eco Innovation Forum 2020’ seminar, reinforcing the company’s capabilities in managing water resources efficiently and sustainably in accordance with international standards. GULF continues to strive for strong business growth while remaining socially and environmentally responsible, as reflected by its efforts to reduce it use of natural resources as well as lower greenhouse gas emissions both directly and indirectly in a move towards a low-carbon society.

GULF conducts a water footprint assessment on all of its power plants which have been in operation for at least one full year. This assessment allows the company to track how efficiently each plant uses water at various stages of the electricity production cycle, resulting in a sustainable water management plan and reducing the risk of water shortages. This year, five power plants under Gulf Group, namely, GTS 1-4 and GVTP in Rayong Province, received Water Footprint of Products (WFP) certificates. Since 2018, 19 power plants owned or managed by Gulf Group have received WFP certification.

The ‘Eco Innovation Forum 2020’ seminar was hosted by the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand in collaboration with the Federation of Thai Industries under the concept ‘Adapt to Survive, the Solution for Industry 4.0 in the New Normal Era’. The event recognizes industrial estates, industrial ports and a wide range of eco-industrial plants as well as companies which have demonstrated outstanding water resource management in line with international standards.
